An emergency dental appointment is a same-day or short-notice visit when something has gone wrong and you need to be seen quickly - whether that's severe toothache, a broken tooth, a lost filling or crown, a knocked-out tooth, or an abscess. Our priority at an emergency appointment is to get you out of discomfort and to stabilise the situation, with longer-term restorative work planned for follow-up visits if needed.
For our patients in Bedford and Bedfordshire, dental emergencies are stressful enough without having to wait days to be seen. We do our best to fit emergency cases in the same day wherever we can, and we'll always treat you calmly and quickly so you can get back to your day.
If you're a registered patient and an emergency happens outside our opening hours, we'll guide you through what to do. Denplan members also benefit from worldwide dental emergency cover, which can be reassuring if you travel.

When something's gone wrong with your teeth, you need a calm, capable team that takes you seriously. Here's why patients across Bedfordshire turn to Teamcare in a dental emergency.
We do everything we can to see emergency cases the same day - we know waiting isn't an option when you're in pain.
Dental emergencies are stressful. Our team's calm, unhurried approach is designed to take the panic out of the visit.
Modern imaging and our experienced team mean we can diagnose the issue quickly and get on with helping you.
For complex emergency cases or anxious patients, IV sedation can be arranged on request.
Ground-floor access and a central Bedford location make getting to us straightforward.
Our clinical team has worked together for over twenty years - the same familiar faces every time.
The sooner you call, the sooner we can fit you in. Our reception team will ask a few quick questions to understand the issue.
Where possible we'll see you the same day, or first thing the next working day.
You'll be welcomed by our team and shown straight through - no long waits when you're in pain.
Your dentist examines the tooth, takes any necessary X-rays and works out exactly what's going on.
We focus on getting you out of pain or stabilising the issue - that might mean a temporary filling, antibiotics or removing the source of the pain.
If further work is needed, we'll book your follow-up appointment and explain everything clearly before you leave.

While you're waiting to be seen, there are a few things that can help. For toothache, over-the-counter painkillers (taken as directed) often help. Avoid placing aspirin directly on the gum - it can cause irritation. A cold compress against the cheek can reduce swelling.
If a tooth has been knocked out, hold it by the crown (the white part), not the root. If it's clean and you can, gently place it back into the socket and bite down on a clean cloth. If not, keep it moist in milk or saliva, and get to us as quickly as possible - ideally within an hour.
If you've lost a filling or crown, save the piece if you can and bring it with you - sometimes it can be re-cemented. In the meantime, try to keep that area clean and avoid eating on it where possible.
Our emergency appointment fee is straightforward and includes the necessary X-rays to diagnose the problem. Any further treatment needed is quoted separately and discussed with you before we proceed.
Call Teamcare Dental Practice on Goldington Road as soon as possible. Our team will take a few details, fit you in same-day where we can, and make sure you're seen calmly and quickly.
