Meet Practice Owner Jai Basudev

When I’m Not Being A dentist

Currently most of my time is taken up with looking after my baby girl or at least changing my top every time she is sick on my shoulder!

I am a big Villa fan which isn’t exactly something to boast about right now but I used to spend quite a bit of time going to watch “The Villa” but it’s not that interesting now that we have been relegated.

I have started doing a lot more walking because I have a new Fit Bit watch, as a result I have started to take more time going for walks and treks around Bedford and counting up my steps.

Why I Became A Dentist

The reason I chose a career in dentistry was because I enjoyed working with people and working with my hands.

I have a sister who is a dentist as well and whenever I have spoken to her about her job it sounded like something that I wanted to do.

I was about 16 years old when I did some work experience with my sister. She was having a conversation with one of her patients and the patient was almost in tears after she had done a new smile makeover. It wasn’t the most complicated treatment it wasn’t the most expensive but it was just something that made that patient so much happier and seeing that reaction was just something that has stayed in my mind.

Helping people become more confident and more at ease with themselves is something that I really enjoy.

My Training and Qualifications

I qualified from Barts and The London Dental Institute, and after working in Oxford and Birmingham I became the principal dentist at Teamcare Dental Practice in 2009. My special interests include Cosmetic Dentistry and Implant Dentistry, having completed several prestigious courses in London.

My philosophy is to provide long lasting, highly aesthetic and functional treatments to enhance and maintain your smile.

I also enjoy offering fast and discreet techniques to help straighten your crooked teeth. I’ve been using systems such as Six Month Smiles and Invisalign for several years now and they have consistently achieved excellent results for my patients.

Furthermore, I continually attend courses to keep up to date with the latest techniques in dentistry. In fact I was recently awarded a postgraduate certificate in Dental Education to help with my teaching, which I thoroughly enjoy.
